This November's election will be critical in shaping the direction of our great nation. I believe that this race is, above all, about our core values, and I look forward to representing Kentucky's 3rd district with a message of personal and fiscal responsibility. I have the history of service and the leadership experience to bring real change to Congress, and I thank you for your continued support as we build momentum in our race to the Capitol.

Todd Lally - Candidate for US Congress Kentucky, 3rd District Signature

March 2010

Friends,

This has been an exciting month for the Lally for Congress campaign. Our support has been growing steadily as this critical race has begun to garner more attention.

A few weeks ago, I took a very productive trip to Washington that resulted in the beginnings of real support in this race from the Capital. For too long, it has been thought that this district is not winnable. But after a series of meetings with the NRCC, some key Congressmen and others in DC, that sentiment is rapidly fading. We have since drawn the attention and endorsement of the Freshman 50 PAC and Iraq Veterans for Congress PAC.

In line with these, came endorsements from two distinguished candidates for federal office as they left their respective races, Jerry Durbin, who was running in this 3rd district race, and Bill Johnson, candidate for U.S. Senate. We appreciate the support of these gentlemen who themselves stepped up when their communities needed them.

Back in Louisville, over the last couple weeks we have taken to the airwaves to ask John Yarmuth to vote “No” on this healthcare reform bill. We gathered close to 1000 signatures on our petition in just a few short days, however, our Congressman didn’t listen and he voted “Yes” despite the outcry against this legislation. The first polls relevant to our race have begun. The Bluegrass poll found that 71% are open to unseating Yarmuth, and the WHAS online poll that followed has us safely in the lead over any primary competitors. Also, the Kentucky Young Republicans held their straw poll, in which I received an overall 54% of the votes, while the nearest primary competitors received 17% each. This consistent show of support from all around the district has been inspirational to both me and the campaign, and I thank all who participated.

Finally, and on a joyous note, we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in the annual parade with two cars and an army of volunteers wielding signs, t-shirts, and campaign literature. The support we received as we walked through the Highlands was uplifting, especially considering that many would consider that to be Yarmuth territory. I believe that speaks to the effects his policies and voting record have had on this community.

And so I ask you, as we near the primary, please spread the word about this campaign and our message. We need your support to succeed in making this course correction. The single most substantial thing that you can do to bring about that change is to offer your financial contributions to the campaign, so that we can get the message to all the voters of the 3rd district and let them speak in the voting booth, after being ignored by John Yarmuth on the issues that affect us most. Thank you for your support!
